(Land Use and Resource Management)
What is the Co-ordination Committee?
The settlement agreement requires the creation of a Co-ordination Committee comprised of Temagami Aboriginal community, Municipality of Temagami and Ontario as a forum for information sharing and planning-related initiatives between governments. This is not a decision making body.
The Co-ordination Committee's main tasks include:
- exchanging information and promoting dialogue;
- early notification of land use and resource management initiatives amongst the parties;
- identifying potential for shared initiatives;
- supporting economic renewal and development initiatives.
Who will be on the Co-ordination Committee?
The Co-ordination Committee will be comprised of representatives of the Temagami Aboriginal community, Ontario and the Municipality of Temagami.
Other municipalities and members of the public may be invited to attend meetings from time to time, depending upon the matters being discussed.
How long will the Co-ordination Committee function?
The Co-ordination Committee will function for a duration of time determined by the three parties. It is expected that the Co-ordination Committee will become an ongoing forum of information exchange in the Temagami area.
What involvement will the public have?
The public will have access to information about the Co-ordination Committee through the Temagami Aboriginal community, municipal and provincial representatives.
